How do I verify my details?

You've signed up and created your Spot account, wonderful. Now it's time to FICA verify your details. We use GBG identity verification solutions to scan your SA green IDs, SA Smart IDs, SA driver's license or passports and face, which we digitally check with the Department of Home Affairs to confirm it’s really you.

Have your SA ID, driver's license or passport with you? Let's walk through our quick verification process:

1. Sign into your Spot app.
2. Click your profile pic icon on the top right of your app screen.
3. Select Tap here to verify your account. 
4. Now it's time to scan your SA green IDs, SA Smart IDs, SA driver's license or passports and complete the liveness check:

Super important tips:

- Make sure that the ID/Passport number you enter is the exact same as what's on your ID/Passport (and registered with Home Affairs).

- Take the photos in natural light if possible (fluorescent lights are a bit tricky).  

- Turn your mobile device's flash off to avoid glare.  

- Place your ID/Passport doc down on a flat surface. 

- Line up your doc within the borders in your app and wait for the app to automatically take the pic (you don't need to lift a finger).

- If nothing's happening and it feels like you're stuck, it means the image couldn't be captured properly. Reposition your mobile device, try tapping on the screen to auto-focus your camera, check for blur/glare from lights and try again. 

- Don’t take a picture of a picture. 

Once you've successfully scanned your ID you'll move on to our quick biometric liveness check which is the final step to keep your account super safe. 

Super important tips:

- Line your face up inside the frame.

- Don’t move the camera just move your head slightly.

- Avoid any exaggerated movements.
